Demons aren’t supposed to be real.

Far away to the east, the giant stone Gate of Aganthor projects a boundary field that separates the world of men from the realm of demons.

When a remote town comes under attack by demons, no one is prepared. During the attack, Zuriel, a novice emberguardian in the king’s army, barely survives an encounter with a demon. Now he must learn how to repair the damage to his core—the source of his power—as well as convince the leaders of the kingdom that the threat of the demons is real.

When few believe him, Zuriel along with two arcknight companions embark on a journey to the Keeper of the Keys before the demons can reach him. With each day, Zuriel’s core grows more fragile, and the demons come ever closer to finding the keys that will unlock the gate. The race is on to find the keys before the demons, but will Zuriel be able to save his core and his powers in the process?

With nothing but the basic abilities of his powers at his command, Zuriel must start his path again. But will the basics be enough to protect him and see him safely to his destination? Or will he arrive just in time to witness the prophesied fall of his kingdom?
