Magic is returning to the world as a group of friends work to save one of their own from being used by nefarious forces. While they do, they discover a more urgent plot to remake all of Creation in the image of a madman.

They team up with a grumpy old man and his grumpier old dog while dodging cyborg assassins and supernatural monsters to find the lost journal of a long-dead psychic whose writing hold the key to saving all that is. They just have to survive long enough to use it.
